Lime & heating systems
In recent years heating systems have become technically more compact and today smaller heat transfer surfaces ensure highest performances. Owing to this, they are, however, also more sensitive to disturbances. If a heating system is operated with water of insufficient quality, corrosion, lime precipitation, sludge and air formation are the result. Defects and disturbances of pumps and thermostatic valves up to noise development and boiler damages are the bitter consequence. Especially in the hot water area lime builds up as water or boiler scale. At operation with fossil fuels a 1 mm thick layer of lime on the heating surfaces already increases energy consumption in water treatment by 10 percent. Therefore the Austrian standard 'ÖNORM' prescribes filling and operation of heating systems with soft water.
Heating protection & benefits
BWT heating protection desalinates and softens the filling and supplemental water as it is regulated by the law. As a heat carrier it is thus provided with the optimal properties that are required by a modern heating system from the medium water. Only that way you can be sure that cutting-edge technology will reliably work over many years.
