Europe’s leading water technology company, BWT – Best Water Technology, sponsored the X3 TEAM Austria at Ironman Austria 2012 in Klagenfurt, which allowed them to help large numbers of people access clean drinking water. X3 TEAM Austria’s athletes raised 1 Euro per kilometre for children in Cambodia.
The X3 Team Austria is a group of committed and enthusiastic triathletes from all over Austria who donate the financial proceeds of their sporting successes to charities. The X3 athletes know how important it is to keep drinking both when training and during competitions, and that water is the best way of preventing dehydration. This is how they achieve such high levels of sporting excellence and enrich not only their own lives, but also those of people in need.
BWT’s table water filter, with its central filter cartridge and revolutionary Mg2+ technology which won the Upper Austria regional prize for innovation, was an instant hit with these sportsmen. The cartridge is unique, because it doesn’t just filter the tap water; it also uses the patented Mg2+ technology to add the health-giving flavour carrier, magnesium. This means you have all the benefits of basic filtration plus magnesium-enriched drinking water, which is pleasant to taste and full of vital minerals. Every mouthful supplies the body with precious magnesium which is so essential when competing at the highest level of athletics.
“We are delighted to have found in BWT a prestigious Austrian sponsor who shares our deep concern for the wellbeing of more disadvantaged people,” says Florian Mörtl of X3 Team Austria. As a result of the cooperation between the athletes of X3 Team Austria and Europe’s market leader in water treatment, we were able to hand over a cheque for €2,500 to Childrenplanet to help fund a well-drilling program in Stung Treng, Cambodia.
25 families in Cambodia (around 130 adults and vulnerable children) will now be able to access clean, healthy drinking water, and we can also educate the local people about the risks of drinking contaminated water.
“In Upper Austria today, clean drinking water is taken for granted, but this isn’t the case in other countries,” says Andreas Weißenbacher, CEO of BWT. “The money we have raised through our work with X3 Austria athletes has enabled us provide the gift of clean water to Childrenplanet and the children of Stung Treng. BWT has combined unique water technology and sporting achievement to support a good cause.”
