The high-quality design of the BWT Gourmet table water filter "Black Penguin" made by Best Water Technology convinced the jury of 40 experts who judged the Red Dot Award in the category "Product Design 2014". The product now features the distinctive and coveted Red Dot mark of quality. For this year's Award, the international experts discussed and assessed 4,815 submissions from 53 countries: prizes were awarded to designs of outstanding quality and innovative force.
The BWT Gourmet table water filter "Black Penguin" combines innovative technology and modern, stylish design: the Gourmet filter cartridge is the heartpiece of the BWT table water filter, its patented Mg2+ technology filtering the water and enriching it with precious magnesium. On its own, the filtered water has a velvety fine and fresh taste, and is ideal for making tea and coffee. The design product has an electronic change indicator that tells you instantly when the filter cartridge needs to be changed. The BWT Gourmet table water filter fits in all standard refrigerator doors, can safely go in the dishwasher, and there's no need to remove the lid to refill it.
Event and exhibition
The internationally renowned product design competition reaches its climax in Essen on 7th July 2014 with the traditional Red Dot Gala during which the famous Red Dot will be awarded, followed by the Designers' Night. The event and presentation of the Award will be attended by around 1,200 guests from around the world. The exhibition of winning entries will also open during the party in the Red Dot Design Museum: the BWT Gourmet table water filter "Black Penguin" will then be displayed to the general public for four weeks.
Care and conscientiousness
Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of Red Dot, on the decisions underlying the Red Dot Award: "The 40 experts considered each of the entries submitted with great care and attention, evaluating their quality in all seriousness. The special cultural features of the designs hailing from 53 different countries were also considered on account of their origin. Only the best products are distinguished by the jury of this international design competition. The winners can therefore be proud of their achievement." The winning products will be presented at an impressive special exhibition in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen from 8th July to 3rd August 2014. Stefan Scheurer, Managing Director of BWT water+more GmbH, was delighted to receive this internationally renowned mark of quality for design: "Winning the Red Dot Award for our BWT Gourmet table water filter "Black Penguin" is an exceedingly valuable distinction for us. It is a visible recognition of the care and attention which we devote to our product design."
